2023 Texas Legislative Accomplishments
Updated on Thursday, Nov 9, 2023

Some organizations that may have you on their email list will attempt to paint the 2023 Legislative session as dismal. Don’t fall for their propaganda! To me this is an indication that some people are just born to be glass half empty while others have embraced the benefits of a glass half full outlook. Some glass half empty people are propelled by money from people with questionable agendas to promote a distorted, negative picture of those who are effective in their service as stewards of political offices.

Facts dispel the propaganda emanating from these organizations, but only if a person is willing to hear the facts. So if you are still reading, let’s get to the facts!

The Legislature passed and the Governor signed 774 bills this year in the 2023 regular and special Legislative sessions. There may be another special session where a few more bills may be generated and signed by the Governor. The bills signed into law made changes in nine general areas: Social issues, Education, Taxes, Spending, Business Practices, Local Government, Elections, Public Safety and Border Security

If you have a subscription to The Texan, you can read up on what the specific bills in each of these areas accomplished during the 88th Legislative session. You can also go to Texas Legislature Online website and search on bills signed by the Governor and get the entire list of 774 bills that were passed. Bills like HB900 (the READER Act), SB14 (ban on child gender modification), SB15 (intercollegiate athletics compete according to biological sex),  SB17 (ban on DEI in Texas), SB29 (prohibiting mask mandates or mandatory vaccines, closing businesses or schools for pandemics), SB402 (prioritizing capital murder trials) were just a few of the changes that are now law in Texas.

Don’t fall for the propaganda by pseudo conservative organizations or dark money funded candidates in next year’s election campaigns that paint the Legislature in a glass half empty manner. Our Representative, Stephanie Klick has a 100% voting record on these bills that are now law and worked to pass them using the respect she has gained and the relationships she has fostered throughout the many years she has lived and worked in this community. Some of the bills were part of the November 2023 Election as Constitutional Amendments that became law in Texas with the voting results.
