New Republican County Chair Elected by Tarrant County Precinct Chairs
Updated on Tuesday, Jan 2, 2024

Monday evening, October 23rd, Tarrant County Republican Precinct Chairs met to elect an interim County Party Chair due to the resignation of our current chair, Rick Barnes. Rick resigned to run for another elected office in Tarrant County. Although he could have waited until the filing deadline in December, Rick resigned early so the the new chair could prepare for the upcoming 2024 Elections, which include the Primary, Primary Runoff and November 2024 General Election. At first five candidates were nominated for the position in the meeting. A supplemental rule was passed by the precinct chairs stating that a candidate needed to be present to be considered for voting. This disqualified two of the candidates, leaving the three that had actively campaigned for the position and were present. After speeches, the first vote was taken which showed none of the candidates receiving a majority vote. Bo French led in the first vote, followed by Warren Norred and finally Fred Tate. After the first vote Fred Tate dropped out of the race. The second vote gave Bo French the majority. Bo was sworn into office by a present Tarrant County Judge and will now take over the responsibilities of the Republican County Chair from Rick Barnes.
