Haltom City Election
Updated on Monday, May 5, 2025

Congratulations to Dr. Truong on his re-election as Mayor of Haltom City, and for the three Council members that were unopposed in their re-election campaigns!

I sent out a mailer to many Haltom City voters recommending Dr. Truong as he has a verifiable record of doing what he says, and his vision and actions align well with what has been beneficial for us residents of Haltom City. Here is the mailer in case you didn't receive one and wanted to see what it said

The single proposition on the May ballot passed overwhelmingly asking whether the Haltom City Crime Control and Prevention District should be continued for ten (10) years and the Crime Control and Prevention District sales tax should be continued for ten (10) years. This is a sales tax (1/4 cents) that is allocated for police department needs above and beyond what the property taxes provide.

When I was on Council we allocated the money for special things, like bulletproof vests, tasers, special training, etc. What that money has been spent on in the past since that time is available if you access the online city budget.

I personally think it's a good thing that this proposition passed, as it allows our property taxes to be lower, since those special needs can be met with sales tax that is collected in the city. Also, people outside our city that purchase taxable items in our city are paying this tax along with us, so that spreads the revenue sources ostensibly outside our city limits.
