Republican Conventions
Updated on Tuesday, Mar 17, 2026

The Republican conventions every 2 years start in the local precinct where delegates are elected to the next level of convention, the Senatorial District convention. The precinct conventions also pass resolutions that they believe define the Republican Party platform of values and ideas. Precinct conventions in Tarrant County occurred on March 5th, 2 days after the Primary Election. The Senatorial conventions in Tarrant County are scheduled for Saturday, March 28. Our precinct is in Senate District 9, so our Senatorial convention is going to be held at W.G. Thomas Coliseum in Haltom City. The Senatorial convention will elect delegates to the state convention which is being held in Houston this year in June. There we will elect a chair and vice-chair of the Republican Party of Texas and our state SREC (State Republican Executive Committee members) and pass a state platform that will become the Republican Party of Texas platform for the next two years. SREC members are elected from each Senatorial District in Texas at the state convention. The SREC and state party chair and vide-chair manage the activities of the Republican party in the state of Texas and have fiduciary responsibilities. One of the state party chair candidates has a website called RedderTexas that presents her ideas for leadership of the Republican Party of Texas. The current party chair maintains the state Republican party website at texasgop.com. If you have any questions about this process, or just want to talk about how the conventions are organized in America and specifically in Texas, feel free to contact me via the precinct website contact form!
